What is Negotiation?
Often the initial step in resolving a dispute, negotiation involves discussion and communication with the other party involved with the intention of reaching a mutually agreeable solution without the need of going to court. It is not necessary to have legal representation when negotiating, although it is of course recommended to ensure you achieve the best outcome possible for you.
The benefit of negotiation is its informal process and flexibility thus enabling the parties time to find common ground and reach an amicable solution. By encouraging active engagement and constructive conversations it minimises the time and cost involved which can only be a positive.
Negotiation can be conducted in correspondence and / or with the benefit of a meeting in person or virtually.
